In my research I study how innovation performance is impacted by various factors, such as the underlying structure of problems and solutions, the choices made for process governance (open vs. closed innovation), the use of digital design tools, and through the use of innovation practices such as Design Thinking. I study these aspects of design and innovation across firms of different sizes, from start-ups to large industrial companies, and across industries from manufacturing, to software, to healthcare, to defense. The results of my research work flow directly into my writing, teaching, collaborating, and advising activities.
